NOAA will send you an email with the latest buoy data. Just replace the 46022 with the buoy whose data you are interested in. I just like buoy 46022 the best.
Here's what the report I got back looked like.

Our spawn got a very nice review and posting of one of his tunes on Dubstep.net and their very busy SoundCloud page. JB is very excited about the positive feedback he is getting on his latest work. He is out DJing a dance party tonight. 7300 plays and 1400 downloads in 2 days and counting. It's Saturday night.
"Swung piano melodies, pounding drums and brilliant synth harmonies set "Envy" by Thoughtography up to be an absolute must-have melodic dubstep track. Fast paced breaks create a perfect contrast to the slower, more chilled out verse and drop sections. Vocal chops sit elegantly above the mix, providing extra accompaniment to the high-octane free download from U.S.A situated Thoughtography."
I guess it might have rained earlier this week. I cannot remember because the beautiful sun we had today etched it from my mind. Today was certainly as nice a day as any ever. I puttered in the yard nailing this to that. Yesterday was a touch grayer. I was glad to have the shade to cut the glare out on the water. I managed to get out and surf a bunch this week. I am thankful for my flexible schedule. The sand bar at Camel has been hinky since the big storm a couple of weeks ago. Normally mainly a right going spot the rights have been closing out without mercy. There has been a somewhat hollow little left. Yesterday I surfed the spot with two other happy guys for about two hours before the crowd showed up and choked off the fun. The fun part of the left is that it ends in the channel where the riptide takes you right back out to the top of the peak. I got a ridiculous number of tries at this wave and made a few good rides. This made me happy as left is really not my best side and this wave has been tricky. Once the rights open back up I will be better on them.
The first good look I get at the waves when I am going north is on the grade coming down to Clam Beach. I get a little thrill when it looks good from here.
Alaska this week. They are shoveling the snow off the roof of the fish house. The load crushed some buildings. I don't know about using the snow blower on the roof?
I was up and out the door in the dark this morning and at the beach as the sun came up. It was a nice frosty morning with thick patchy fog and mist that hung here and there. I was glad to find the beach fog free. The surf was smaller but fun as anything with five other surfers out all regulars. I got a few waves. I got to work pretty late. Nobody noticed or cares, nice. The rest of the day was a breeze. I took this after. The tide was coming in and shutting it off toward the end.
YAY! After what must be months Buoy 22 came back online last night about 6:00 Just in time for the opening of crab season here tomorrow. It is really nice to see some real time, detailed off shore weather data. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=46022
There was a Foss tugboat like the one in the clip here tied up to the dock when I got to work this morning. It is quite a nice piece of seagoing heavy equipment. I'm glad I got to see it. I find it strangely inspiring. I wouldn't be surprised if they came into the bay to avoid the crappy marine condition off shore here right now. This boat looked like it could handle big seas but why be out there in a gale unless you have to.
One of the best gifts this year was the discovery today of Josh's long lost baby book. Sarah found it in the attic. There are quite of few photos in there of which there is only one copy like this b&w polaroid taken back when we used babies as helmets.
The surf Thursday was ridiculously nice, glassy and just overhead. There I was in the water with too many friends while the surf was doing what all surfers wish for. Even though I only managed to get a couple I was stoked. I love the smell of neoprene and surf wax. I wish I had stayed out longer but work and stuff called to me. I should ignore those nags. It was great to have gotten a little this week because work was a grind and I needed the refreshment. There will be more surf although for the next few days it looks to be big...
We are here enjoying our sweet little home in our sweet little town. There's a fire in the stove and nothing to worry about. I hope that if you are reading this that you're somewhere in good company feeling good. Cheers!
I was out again this afternoon for a while. A new swell showed up to today under the fog. I went out on my 6'8 fish and got a couple of good ones. I have had the board for a week now and have had three nice sessions. It works really well and is really solidly build.
I was glad the the surf settled down enough today that I could get out and burn off some of that Thanksgiving pie. I got there just as the waves and lineup started to fill in. The sand bar is a little different shape after the pounding it took this last week but it seems like there is even more sand there which is nice. The swell was 7 at 13 sec.
So far this blue Don Takayama egg has cost me 15 cents a day to own for the last 8 years. Pennies a session really. I was out again yesterday on it in the pouring rain lowering my cost of ownership per wave. Conditions were chunky and stormy but still fun. The weather kept a lot of people home. Many waves were ridden. There are more waves coming. Yay! MON VARIABLE WIND LESS THAN 5 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FOOT OR LESS. NW SWELL 8 TO 10 FT AT 12 SECONDS.
I could not have ordered up better weather for my week off from work. It is another beautiful day today. I got up just before dawn and drove through the early morning mist to find the break working and 7 other early risers enjoying the waves. I stayed out until the tide came in and shut it off. I rode the wooded fish. This morning's generous green ramps are just the sort of waves the wooden fish works the best on.
Sarah and I road tripped up to Grant's Pass yesterday to pick up her new ram sheep. The trip could not have gone smoother and it was a beautiful afternoon for a drive. That drive is almost scenic overload and I got to be the passenger for the first half so I could take in the sights.
Today I puttered on my new woodshed project. The spot is ready for shed building. After I went to catch the low tide at the beach. I got a bunch of waves on the reliable blue egg. That board's 8th birthday is coming up.
I had a pretty fun time at the beach this afternoon. When I got there about 1:00 the foggy was sitting so low the it was hard to make out the surf from the beach. I climbed around on the massive rocks for a while hoping to get a better look and giving the tide time to get a little lower. Once some other like minded folks started showing up I got suited up. Just then the fog lifted away to reveal the surf and a sunny sky. The waves were bigger than we have seen in while but bumpy misshaped things. Everyone seemed stoked anyway it is the first swell. I stayed out all afternoon. According to the forecast the juiciness will continue right through my entire vacation.
I am ready for a vacation so I am off for the next week. My jobs isn't really physically demanding but it does demand my attention. It will be nice to have some time off. It looks like there will be some waves. They are here now as a matter of fact. If I listen out the window I can hear them rumbling in he distance. The forecast for tomorrow is 6 to 8 ft a 12 sec low tide is a 3ish. The swell and light winds are going to last through the weekend and into next week. I am ready to get wet. It looks like I lucked out on the timing of this break.
I took some photos today to remind sarahshevett how nice it can be here sometimes. Once December rolls around again and we are living in rainland, it can seem like the sun will never come out again. It could not have been nicer here today (except for the lack of December style surf of course).
Happy Father's Day. My son was forced to endure the clear cold Pacific and shoulder high waves under a sunny sky. He's a good son for humoring his old man and helping him lug oysters to the festival.
